Why do things seem so loud and/or so bright?

Hypersensitive senses

Ultra-sensitivity to sensations occurs with about half of those diagnosed with fibro. Sound can be magnified to the point where it becomes unbearable; you can hear your watch battery running, or the sound of someone nearby swallowing normally. Lights become blinding, odors overwhelm. The sensitivity comes and goes.

How true! Sometimes I can't stand to go out to
a restaurant because the noise is so bad inside
the restaurant.

I went a told me doctor that I had Fibromyalgia and she agreed. And, everytime she would come into the room to see me I would have the light off. There is a certain type of light that is just much too bright for me. I am also the same way with smelling things. If you don't wash your body, I can tell. The problem with that is, I don't want to smell you. I wish I could turn those sensors off.

I walk around my house with sunglasses on...somedays the natural light it too much! Also, some restaurants I have to keep my sunglasses on. My whole body aches most of the time with sensitivity to cold! I am usually always too cold even in the 70 degree sunshine.
